Everything You Should Know About the Die-Cutting Process

As shared by Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC) in the article “What to Know About Die-Cutting,” efficient die-cutting requires much more than just running a press. The real success lies in the planning, preparation, and follow-through before and after the actual cut.

While the cutting step is mechanically straightforward, the processes that precede and follow it—like layout, makeready, and blanking—play a much more critical role in the quality and speed of production. A poor layout can compromise blanking, finishing, and stamping. On the other hand, a well-planned sheet layout maximizes run speed and minimizes errors downstream.
